UM News and Notes

by Canes Pundit on December 20, 2011

- Alright so I lost my fantasy playoff match up.  Mike Wallace managed a meager 11 points, when I needed 20.  Big Ben had two throws to Mike in the end zone that would have won me close to half a grand, but both got picked off.  Thanks Ben.  I haven’t been this disappointed in you since you forced your wiener on that drunk college girl.

- Everyone’s all giddy about Duke Johnson’s performance in the 5A final, and I’m lookin forward to him being a Cane next year, but…people, please.  Our problems extend way beyond a 5’10″ high school running back committing to UM.  There’s gonna be a little rebuilding phase up ahead, so sit back for a couple years.  I wish I had better news for you, but it is what it is.

- Can’t wait to see what the NCAA hands down to Ohio State.  I suspect more scholarships.  I fully anticipate a chunk of schollies to go out our window and wouldn’t be surprised if they tacked on one more year of a postseason ban.  Again, I ain’t losin sleep over it cuz it’s probably not going to be a BCS bowl in 2012 (Debbie Downer voice).

- I wish I could buy stock in Associate AD Chris Freet’s career.  That dude is responsible for the social media enhancements at UM this year.  I have little doubt that some day down the road he will make a great AD at a university.  Plus, he’s got that blonde haired, blue eyed look that Hitler would have loved.

Quick Hits: It would be nice if the Dolphins didn’t play themselves out of the Top 10, cuz I think Barkley and Griffin are going to be highly sought after in this draft should they go pro….Signing Day is about five weeks away and I anticipate a large, highly ranked class.  I would love to see Duke’s teammate Keith Brown switch from Illinois and sign with UM on February 1st….I’m in dire need of some Netflix recommendations.  When you’re renting Jake Gyllenhaal movies, you know you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel…Am reading this book called ‘The China Study’ and it is blowin my mind. I’m not much of a reader, but if you know anyone who has cancer or heart disease, this book will probably extend their lives. Best ten bucks I’ve ever spent (except for that lap dance at The Pink Pony last weekend).
